This photo captures a lonesome snowman trapped behind a metal fence. It encaptures feelings of alienation people may face, with no way to express it or no one to understand.

I took this photo on a trip to Secoya National Park with my family back in 2024. As a California resident, where snow falls once in a blue moon, my brother and I were so excited by the snow that we built this little snowman. I noticed how symbolic it ended up being. Not around any other snowmen, trapped behind “bars.” So I snapped a picture.

Don’t worry, we built it a friend not long afterwards so it won’t be so lonely.
